Green quartzite

Middle-fine-grained mylonitic orthogneiss with heterogeneous texture; the light colour is given by the abundance of quartz and feldspar. Homogenous very fine-grained chloritic-epidotic schist of green colour, evident foliation linked to the iso-orientation of the phyllosilicate aggregates, the albite crystals and the polycrystalline quartz. Mineralogical composition: ocellated albite, chlorite, epidote, subordinate to white mica. The stone shows quartz and calcite stains; rutile titanite and pyrite are secondary minerals. Usage: indoor and outdoor floorings and coatings, stairs, skirting units, thresholds, window-sills, window surrounds, frames, portals, balconies, sills, benches, kerbs, road paving, flower-holders, columns, kitchen and bathroom table-tops, fountains, funerary art, graves and chapels. |
