White quartzite |
Middle-fine-grained mylonitic orthogneiss with mainly heterogeneous texture; the light colour is given by the abundance of quartz and feldspar. Regular foliation linked to the planar disposition of the phyllosilicates (white mica and chloride) and the flattening of quartz-feldspar aggregates. Mineralogical composition: quartz, plagioclase, minor quantities of k-feldspar, white mica, scarce chloride and rare biotite, +- Fe-sulfur. Usage: indoor and outdoor floorings and coatings, stairs, skirting units, thresholds, window-sills, window surrounds, frames, portals, balconies, sills, benches, kerbs, road paving, flower-holders, columns, kitchen and bathroom table-tops, fountains, funerary art, graves and chapels. |
